Inaugural Post!

Hi, welcome to positively b.e.e.! My name is Beth, but I’ve been called “Bee” since childhood by family and close friends, and I’m a pretty positive person, hence the name of this site. This inaugural post will explain a little bit about what you can expect to see here.

After nearly dying from an accident in 2006, I realized that life was potentially shorter than anticipated, and figured I’d better get with the program and enjoy it. After living in fear and negativity for many, many years, and doing a lot of work on myself, I have:
  • achieved more calm in a world full of chaos;
  • found more love in a world filled with fear; and
  • attained more peace in a world that can feel like we’re at war with ourselves.
I started this site to share all that awesome POSITIVITY with YOU. That’s right! We’re gonna shine some LIGHT in this place, share some JOY with the world, and have some GRATITUDE for it all. Just call me a one-stop-shop for good cheer!

You’ll see some of my thoughts on the things all of us deal with in life, some things that make me happy (shout out to fellow knitters!), random inspiration, and references to spiritual issues -- sky’s the limit, really! No matter the content, though, the themes will be the same: positivity, light, joy, and gratitude.

One caveat, though: I’m not a professional, well, keep in mind these are only my thoughts on making sense of my world -- nothing more. That said, I hope what you see here is entertaining, uplifting, funny, and makes your day just that much nicer for having read it.

Thanks for joining me on this new adventure!

  1. Unfortunately, it won't let me subscribe without using my Google details and gmail address (which I never use). Hopefully I'll be able to see notifications of new posts over at FB. <3

    1. I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you! Am happy to help you with it if I'm able to. I did ask someone without a google account to test it and they were able to subscribe, so I hope this is only temporary for you. At any rate, I will definitely be updating FB with post links as well. Thank you for reading, silentsgirl! :)

  2. We can certainly use more positivity! Thanks for inviting me, Beth: looking forward to your posts! ❤️

(It automatically directs you to log in to a Google account -- did you set it up that way?)

    1. Oh, and my gmail has yet to update my name, so Ortiz it is! ☺️

    2. Chris - how odd! I did not set it up that way, but I will do some poking around to see what's what. I know when I tested it, I simply entered an email address, entered the security captcha text, and that was it. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks for reporting, and for subscribing! :)

Fortune Cookie Friday: The Means of Happiness

Ok, so, as I mentioned in this post here, Fortune Cookie Friday will be an occasional feature here at positively b.e.e. I get a lot of these every time I order Chinese food or go out, plus I sometimes buy a package of them (you can get a big box here), because I like them a lot.

I find the sayings inside often start a train of thought, for me, so I may as well share those trains here and see what you have to say about it, and I invite you to share your fortune cookie fortunes with me as well!

So without further adieu, the first fortune cookie fortune on this site:

"We cannot be happy unless we think we are the means of good to others."
What do you guys think of that?

My first, knee-jerk reaction to this was: "Nah."

But that was my brain trying to get in the way of my heart. When I tell my brain to pipe down, I get so much more out of thi…

Fortune Cookie Friday: Bide Your Time

Hello fortune lovers! I hope you have had a most excellent week!

Here is today's fortune:

Bide your time, for success is near.
This one has me scratching my head a tiny bit. Is it saying to just cool my heels and wait for success to show up? I mean, to bide your time means to wait, but I've never been good at that. :) Let's explore this concept a little more.

Imagine the following scenario:

You really want to launch a new business. You develop a product, and then put it up on the internet to sell it. Do you then sit back and wait to see if it'll sell?

You're going to market it, right? You're going to place ads, tell everyone you know, maybe hold an open house or pass out flyers or business cards.

That said, there is value in patiently following the steps you need in order to be successful, and not shortcutting on any of the stages or materials.

Fortune Cookie Friday: The Roving Bee

Hello, and happy Friday! I hope you've all had a great week. It is Fortune Cookie Friday, so let's see what today holds:
It's the roving bee 🐝 that gathers honey. 🍯
First of all, I'd like to start with a side note: I love how my house is a virtual scavenger hunt when it comes to fortunes. It's fun for me when I find them. I have these things tucked away in all kinds of tiny little places, and it never ceases to amaze me when I come upon one that seems to speak exactly to what I'm thinking at the time. This one was tucked away in a drawer, with a rusty old paperclip on it. I have no idea what it used to be clipped to, by the way, but I took the clip off to take the photo, and it left those imprints on the paper. I don't even know how long I've had this one, but it has probably traveled with me through several moves over sever…
